Invincible

I finally saw the movie Invincible. The true story of Vince Papale who is played by Mark Wahlberg. This movie is about Vince Papale, a bartender who is extremely dedicated Philialphia Eagles fan. While watching tv at the bar Vince works at, him and his friends find out from a press confrence that new coach Dick Vermeil will hold open try outs for anyone interested in becoming an Eagle. All of Vince's friends pressure him to try out. At first he is reluctant, but eventualy does. In the end, he becomes a pretty soild Eagle, lasts for three years, and after going through a divorce, marrys his new girlfriend he met from working at the bar.

Michard's thoughts on this movie....
Alright, I'm going to make this one kind of short. I thought that this movie was good. Mark does a really good job and so does Greg Kinnear, (coach Dick Vermeil.) Both actors are not exactly as well known as people like Tom Hanks or George Clooney, but I think we might be seeing both of them in a couple more movies pretty soon.

Overall, I would give this one around a B or a B+.

Stevie Ray Vaughn

Well, today is the day. 16 years ago on August 27th, 1990, Stevie Ray Vaughn died. The greatest guitar player ever died today on a plane crash. I think that SRV was the greatest guitarist of all time. He was credited by many (including Eric Clapton) to creating an entirely new sound on a guitar. Stevie was known for his amazing blues music and also known for using outlandishly large strings. I just wanted to pay a small tribute to this guy...he deserves it.

Pluto Not A Planet

Look, now I know this has been going on for a little while now, but I want to speak my mind on this little issue also. In case you didn't know, a group of "scientists" had a little get-together and went back and forth about Pluto not being a planet. After many wasted hours, they said that Pluto is too small and should not be a planet. This is BS. Here are a couple of reasons I think that Pluto should be a planet.

1) The main reason: Stephen Colbert.
This guy is the man. He should be the soul authority of America. Colbert was pissed from what I heard about this. He strongly believed that Pluto should be a planet. Who would disagree with him? Nobody should. I think that this could be my only reason, and be strong enough, but I'm going to add a little something else.

2) Today's Word: The old food or drink
I think that the planet Pluto is like that old odor less food or drink in your fridge. When it's new, you're excited about it. You might eat a little bit of it and then put in back, in America's case, research it a little and then kind of forget about it. Same case. It is just there, it sits there, takes up space, but is not that important. But what do you do about it, you don't throw it away, that's for sure! That's ridiculous. Don't just throw Pluto away. It's been here a while just let it be okay?

3) Last reason, the satellite
How dumb is America sometimes, pretty dumb. Maybe these so called "scientists" forgot this. We already launched a satellite that will arrive at Pluto to take some pictures for us. Come on! I know we thrown away millions on sometimes stuff that is not that great but some on. Somebody should pipe up and say, let the satellite get there, and then if you are not satisfied, you scientists can go and have it not be a planet. But if you call Pluto not a planet, America basically threw away millions to go take pictures of a rock.

This whole thing is frickin' ridiculous.

Fantasy Football is Underway!

Fantasy Football has started. The league I am talking about is with my cousins and not the ones with all of my friends at school, but I'm still going to talk about it anyway. Yesterday, the live draft took place. Only 2 of the six people showed up, (me being one of them) making it only a one hour long. All in all, I came away with the best defense in the league, and came away with a pretty solid offence. I am going to do weekly updates of how it is going. This upcoming Thursday, the 30th I think of August, the opening game takes place featuring one of the best/worst teams in the league. Thought you all might want to know...

Heated California Race

Alright! Well thanks to the Comcast Homepage, I have learned that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has a little bit of competition. A former porn star is running against Arnold in the next election! I'd like to ask all of you who read this to leave a comment and tell me who you think is going to win. Me, I am going with Arnold, here's why. In all of my time watching the news or hearing things here and there, I have not hear any major bad things going on in California. Could it be better, of course, but I thing if there is nothing extremely wrong that is going on in California that could be stopped by him, he must be doing at least half way decent.

First Concert

Alright after going 0 for 2 with my first 2 blogs, this is my third and final one. This one I think is the one that is going to work. First post, I easily have to do it about the Allman Brothers Band. I saw their concert last night at Meadowbrook, (which has no meadow or brook) and I was not to happy.

My first rant is going to be small, not big....Just like Meadowbrook. Now I'm not complaining that it was incredibly small all I am saying is that I thought that it would be a lot bigger. Thousands and thousands of people, hippies everywhere, you have to scamble through the crowd to find a good seat, that kind of thing. There was a decent crowd on hand, just not a huge one...

Next the main topic...The Allman Brothers. When I first heard that the Allman Brothers were coming to Meadowbrook, I was pretty excited, and I was as happy as Ozzy Ozborne at a cocaine convention. I defiantly wanted to go and see this legendary band with fellow blogger Fiedel Giamatti and close friend Kyle Mandrow. I bought the tickets and a few weeks later I arrived at the show.

There was an opening band called Gov't Mule who I thought were pretty good, but the only good thing about them was the guitar player. Other than that, no crazy good drummer or bassist or keyboarder. But, I waited patiently knowing that the Allman Brothers were up next.

After a brief intermission, and after the cash game (I'll get to that later,) the Allman Brothers were on. Finally. Opening up with a pretty good intro song, they started to play, only problem was, I didn't recognize almost any of their first 5 songs. I'm a fan, I know their main songs, but they only played one I knew. I was hoping they would play Midnight Rider pretty soon, but by this time, I really had to take a pis. Sure enough, when I was in the middle of the line, they played it. I heard it and I was pissed. I was madder than George W. Bush trying to say nuclear. I tried to hurry, but by the time I got out, I had missed more than half of the song. I got back thinking, okay, they played Midnight Rider, now they are probably going to play a lot of their famous songs. Sure enough, they didn't.

I waited and waited but no good songs, the traditional drum and bass solo song took over a half an hour...It was probably as straining as a Bill Clinton speech. I was pretty upset. The ABB was not up to par. It felt like that distinct Allman Brothers sound was gone. I know it's because they are getting older and it's live, but I've heard some of their newer live stuff, it sounded good. It was almost sad, that awesome sound faded like my straight A's after taking Spanish class. Even though they weren't their old selves, they could have at least played their famous songs. They didn't play, Jessica, Old Man, Whipping Post or perhaps one of the greatest songs ever, Little Martha.

3rd small rant, is the cash game at the concert. They pulled a random ticket and somebody got to go in this thing while a fan blew money, and he had to catch as much as he could. His name was "Bob." This guy was a loser, the anouncer asked if he had any people with him and he said, "Yeah, they're my fan club...uh...They watch me catch money all the time."....HA! That's hilarious, Bob take, those 47 dollars you won and invest all of it into a comedy career.

Overall the concert was good. Was it worse than coffee or Eric Clapton without Cream, no, but it wasn't amazingly great. I'd give my first concert a 5 or a 6 out of 10.
